I’m Doing My Part, God’s Doing His…

January 16, 2013

For those of you interested in getting a close up view of the intimate details of my every day life, well, that’s never going to happen.

Instead, though, what I can offer is this video clip that gives you an up-close, high-def view of me talking about God, faith and career path (courtesy of my good friends at The High Calling.) It’s a little weird seeing myself on video, but, whatever. It’s done. So, enjoy!

I think there’s freedom in viewing our lives this way: God’s part and our part. We begin to focus on the places where our actions really matter (our part) instead of wasting time worrying about God’s part. There’s greater effectiveness, in other words. But there’s also much lower anxiety. God repeatedly tells us his part so that we can release it and trust him with it.

Great point, Loren. This is freedom, to do what we can, and to give up any shred of hope for control, but trust in God. The big lesson for me is the Trust part… But, yes, it can do a number on reducing anxiety when we have more trust in God for doing His part.

You come across very well in video.

There must have been two cameras is one of my thoughts…maybe a little fast, but that could just be me…as i am mainly a visual person, and i am trying to assimilate visual and sound at the same time.

I agree with mrs. r.s. in the first comment. For 1:29 minutes of input, i am left with several things to ponder upon, as in the path not being straight, surrender, mystery, control, engaging in peace, trust, doing one’s part and taking part.

It kind of reminds me of two friends walking hand in hand.

The path reminds me of one of those line drawings we do as kids, where you follow the numbered dots to make a picture.

Thanks, Nance. It is definitely weird to see myself in video. I am still not sure about it… 🙂
There fast pace of the video is due to the way they edit it. You can see, I don’t talk very fast. But they cut and past all these sound bytes to pack in a full punch in one minute. Glad you enjoyed it!

In a time of struggle and uncertainty in my current career path, these words are such an encouraging reminder. I know there is such hope because it’s not all up to me. I feel confident in taking steps, trusting that God can and will open and close doors as I go. Again, thanks!

Your welcome, ltn. All the best to you as you work out your career – keep taking the steps, and before long, the path becomes clear.

I guess next you’ll need a Hollywood agent. This was good. I hope you do more of these

Thanks David. There are a few more videos that will be coming from this same shoot, on different topics.
